Meet the Maker

Luke Jacomb

Luke Jacomb grew up at the centre of the Aotearoa New Zealand glass community. His late father, John Croucher, was a well-known glass artist who initiated one of the nation’s first glassblowing cooperatives in the 1970s. Together with fellow glass artist John Leggott, Croucher later established two glass production companies: Giovanni Glass in 1989 and Gaffer Glass in 1995.

With 30 years of experience, Luke Jacomb remains at the forefront of studio glass blowing both in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally. Inspired by his time training in North America and Europe, and aided by his late father, Luke draws inspiration from traditional Venetian and Danish techniques, masterfully combining them with elements of the South Pacific to craft a uniquely New Zealand perspective in glass.

Luke Jacomb Studio was established in 2008. Today Luke, partner Tara, and their small team of artists and craftspeople aim to bring beautiful locally created glass art into the homes and spaces of people worldwide.
