These beautiful earrings have been made from Whalebone by Kristal Thompson.
Whalebone or parāoa is a special medium for Māori artists for both its physical and spiritual meaning. The usage of whalebone as a carving medium is deeply rooted in the wish to create a meaningful continuum of the animals whose bones have been transformed through this process.
Kristal Thompson is a daughter of Kerry and Amanda Thompson, who both have more than 20 years experience in carving. Having watched her parents work together and having this unique opportunity to ako (learn) from them, she has created prints, earrings, jewelry, cards and more.
NB: Due to CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species ) export limitations, Whalebone pieces cannot be exported outside of New Zealand.

Online orders are dispatched Monday to Friday.
Allow 3 - 5 business days for delivery within New Zealand (please allow an extra business day for South Island and Rural addresses).
Once your order has been collected by our courier, you’ll be notified via email and provided a tracking number. All orders/parcels are labelled as a “signature required” courier service for security purposes.
*Our standard shipping excludes PO Boxes, Waiheke island, Great Barrier island, Chatham island and Stewart island.
