This comfortable T shirt showcases the beautiful artwork from Aldio Pita's original woodblock print, KISO BORO.

Aldio Pita lives in the Solomon Islands and has been creating woodblock prints for over 30 years. He is inspired by the natural environment that surrounds him and traditional stories that have been handed down from generations. Aldio also teaches and shares his printing techniques with his community.

His shark designs are inspired by Vivinei Malivi (oral traditions) that refer to custom stories from the Western Province of the Solomon Islands.
A long time ago, 666 men wanted to cross the sea from Rapichana Point to Tetepare Island. They asked a custom man called Kaluvesu to help. He wove his hair into eight long ropes and tied them onto one of the trees on Tetepare. The 666 men started to walk across but in the middle of the sea, the hair rope broke. The men were afraid of Kiso (sharks) so they decided to jump like dolphins to trick the sharks and they all became ‘love dolphins’. These dolphins are still in the rea of Kopi gete and Kopi kiki today.
“My heritage tells me that we need to conserve and protect the environment or future generations will suffer. Through my art, I hope to inspire people to protect the environment and remember their culture.”
