Despite its confusing name, the Orca is actually the largest member of the dolphin family. They are well known and can be identified relatively easily by its distinctive black and white markings and very tall, prominent dorsal fin.

Margy and Rod Davies are the faces behind Fern Flat Pottery and have been for more than 40 years.
Rod was born in Auckland. He completed a Graphic Arts Diploma at Auckland University of Technology. As a young adult, Rod worked in the creative industry in London. Later, he returned to New Zealand and settled in Northland, where he embraced a self-sufficient lifestyle.
Margy was born in Manawatū. After completing a Bachelor of Arts at Massey University, she moved to the Far North, where she met Rod. Margy worked as a primary school teacher before taking up pottery with Rod.
Together, the pair create lively elemental pottery that people can enjoy for its timeless beauty. Their inspiration comes from their everyday life in rural Northland and New Zealand’s beautiful beaches.
