A beautiful Lime coloured cast glass Kōmiromiro/Tomtit made by Luke Jacomb Studio.
Luke Jacomb Studio was established by Luke Jacomb in 2006. Based in Auckland, they produce an affordable range of handmade cast and blown glass works.
The Tomtit/Kōmiromiro were seen as bearers of good news. People believed they had special powers, and saw them as tapu (sacred). An observant person was said to have ‘he kanohi kōmiromiro’, the eye of a tomtit, referring to the careful way the bird looked for small insects. There are five subspecies of Tomtit– one on each of the North, South, Chatham, Snares and Auckland islands.
Each work is individually crafted and cast so may vary slightly in colour due to the nature of being handcrafted. Easy to install, each bird has a permanently attached screw that turns into the wall anchor provided with purchase.
Size: approx. 12 x 12 x 6 cm
Weight: 250g
Colour: Lime
