New Zealand Native Timbers Ruler
First produced in the 1950s, this ruler is pure kiwiana. It features inlaid panels of New Zealand native timbers and shows both centimetres and inches. On the back it names each type of wood.
A crafty gift for any New Zealander, especially school-age children. Also good for friends and family overseas as it is a little piece of New Zealand that is easy to pack or post.
Did you know? In the Design and Decorative Arts Gallery, Auckland Museum displays the 'Baden-Powell Desk' - an antique writing desk designed and made by William Seuffert. This desk is a wonderful example of marquetry and parquetry (inlaying wood pieces to make patterns and images).
