This hand-carved koruru (face) is carved from wood by Thomas Hansen. It features a full face male moko (Māori tattoo) design. Tā moko is traditional Māori tattooing. Each moko is unique to that person and tells the story of their whanau (family), tribal affiliations, genealogy, knowledge, and social standing.

Art has been a constant theme throughout Thomas’s life. He completed his first carving at 8 years of age, with some chisels given to him by his grandmother. And later received his first formal training in the art of Māori carving under the guidance of Dennis Conway, head carver and tutor at Ōrākei Marae, Auckland. After settling in a small town in Tauranga, he has continued with carving, studying under various carvers and researching different styles.

Online orders are dispatched Monday to Friday.

Allow 3 - 5 business days for delivery within New Zealand (please allow an extra business day for South Island and Rural addresses).

Once your order has been collected by our courier, you’ll be notified via email and provided a tracking number. All orders/parcels are labelled as a “signature required” courier service for security purposes.

*Our standard shipping excludes Waiheke island, Great Barrier island, Chatham island and Stewart island.
