This stunning glass sculpture is handcrafted by Kahu Design using beautifully fused glass and delicate steel wire.
Kahu Deisgn is an Auckland based studio where mixed-media artist Te Rongo Kirkwood - Waikato, Taranaki, Te Wai-o-Hua, Te Kawerau, Ngāi Tai ki Tamaki creates and specialises in unique hand-made glass pieces intimately connected with nature and NZ heritage. The studio is inspired by a philosophy of creating meaningful connections through quality handcrafted artwork. Their pieces use symbolism to convey ideas that are important to the New Zealand story.
Te Rongo's bring together her Māori, English and Scottish heritage to influence her creations and while each piece has a story and underlying meaning, it is also celebrated for the pure innate seductive beauty of glass.
