“Heirloom Textiles” is the fourth instalment in a series of publications that explore the Museum's collections. Curator Social History Jane Groufsky together with Research Associate Anna Deacon take a look at some of the earliest European garments in the Museum, donated by families who brought them to Aotearoa New Zealand as precious family heirlooms. Deacon, a Lead Costume Pattern Drafter for film and television, has developed a new method of reconstructing historic garments and this publication shares her research through the reproduction of an 18th century dress in the Museum collection.
